2013 Long Island ABATE & Full Throttle Magazine’s Safety & Awareness Run
ABATE stands for American Bikers for Awareness, Training & Education. ABATE is a not for profit 501 c 3 corporation formed to promote and protect the interests of Long Island motorcyclists. We monitor and interact with the legislative process, enhance the image of motorcycling, and provide educational and social opportunities for members as well as non-members. ABATE will continue to strive to become acquainted with both the issues and the people of the motorcycling community. We encourage all our members to be informed registered voters. Long Island ABATE Inc. supports the Motorcycle Rider Education classes currently being offered throughout NYS. We welcome interested persons to any of our activities and to join our organization.
We are not a “Motorcycle Club”
Rather, a Not For Profit Organization
ABATE provides the neutral ground which allows us to stand beside and support each other in unity, to safeguard our rights and to be individuals with different views. A concept that we are united with a common interest and now a common ground on which to stand. There are hundreds of members on Long Island and we are growing stronger by the day.
The main purpose of the ABATE organization is to work toward continued freedom of the road by insuring that motorcyclists’ point of view is presented to our legislators and to promote motorcycle safety, rider education, and awareness.
We write letters to our elected officials and stay aware of what is going on with motorcycle legislation, education and other transportation issues.
We go into the driver education classes in local High Schools and teach young drivers to look for motorcyclists on the road.
We welcome interested persons to attend any of our activities or to join our organization. Some of the examples of what we do are: Toy Runs, Poker Runs, Family Picnics, host charity events, lobbying for or against legislation, letter writing campaigns and meeting with our legislative representatives in Albany. Anyone interested in motorcycling may attend our meetings and events. You are not required to own a motorcycle to join, all we ask is that you care about those that do.
